An Angel’s Whisper
The same dream again. The same green colored house, with the same dead grass and decrepit foundation. As I absorbed its oppressive presence my body began the almost memorized steps towards the house despite my mind shouting at every muscle to stop, but to no avail. Slowly threading my way towards the rotted porch, I take in my surroundings. The porch creaked and groaned with each step, and the smell immediately assaulted my nostrils. Dreading what I already knew I would see my shaky hand takes hold of the doorknob, and in an agonizingly slow moment the door gives way allowing me to enter.
The vast living space smelled pungent and sulfuric, and as usual it lay there in the room’s center. With its skull caved in, the only discernible traits of the creature were its humanoid form and its harrowingly beautiful wings. Iridescent in its color the wings still held a shine to them, juxtaposing the necrotic and decayed corpse it was attached to. While in prior instances of this vision I would wake up, this particular one was different. My body felt light, and I could move it at will. As I attempted to leave the house however, the door which initially was in the wall behind me was now gone.

Turning my attention back to the body, it now floated at the center of the room with flakes of its diseased skin and chunks of flesh falling to the ground beneath. The worst was its face however, as its mangled and concave figure gurgled out a whisper. Paralyzed I could do nothing but stare in awe at the creature’s magnificent wings, its etherealness hypnotic. In a moment which seemed to have been either one second or one thousand years we stared at one another before the creature gurgled once more, spewing what appeared to be blood out of its distorted face.
You will burn with me, Logan
Before I could process what it said the varmint lunged at me, slamming my back against the wall. The pain was immense but even then I managed to open my eyes, only to be met with this being looking at me before raising its fingerless hand and slowly reaching towards me… and it was then that I awoke.
With a jolt I laid in my bed, terrified. Once I regained control of my body I immediately ran to the bathroom and checked myself in the mirror, and upon my neck there was a dark purple imprint of where the thing had held onto me.
